Five signs it’s on its way out. IS IT TIME?
Boilers rarely fail without warning. Spot the clues early and get it looked at before the cold snap, not during it.

Strange noises
Banging, whistling or a new sound that won’t go away can signal a fault. Don’t diagnose it yourself, get it checked.

Leaks and falling pressure
Water around the boiler, or pressure that keeps dropping, can point to a leak in the system.

A yellow or orange flame
Treat it as a safety warning: it can mean carbon monoxide. Stop using it, ventilate, get outside and call an RGI engineer. If you smell gas, call Gas Networks Ireland on 1800 20 50 50.

Always resetting
Lockouts that keep coming back usually mean a fault is building. They rarely pick a convenient week.

Getting on in years
A well-looked-after boiler typically lasts 10 to 15 years. If yours is past that and needing repairs, replacing it often makes more sense.

How much does a new boiler cost?
From €2,450 for an Ideal Logic System, fitted. The final price depends on the model and size your home needs, and on any extra work, like moving the boiler or swapping a system for a combi. You get a clear quote before anything starts.
How long does the install take?
Same-day installation is available. A straight swap is usually done in a day. Jobs with extra work, like moving the boiler, can take 1 to 3 days, and we keep the disruption to a minimum.
Combi or system: which do I need?
If you have a hot water cylinder and more than one shower in use at once, a system boiler usually makes sense. If you’d rather lose the tank, a combi gives you hot water on demand. See combi or system above, or ask us.
Is there a grant for a new gas boiler?
No. SEAI doesn’t give grants for gas boilers. If grants matter to you, have a look at heat pumps, where you could get up to €12,500 back, where eligible.
Do you only fit Ideal?
Yes. We’re an Ideal exclusive partner, so our engineers know these boilers inside out, and so does our office when you ring with a question.
How do I keep the warranty valid?
Register your boiler with Ideal within 30 days of installation, and have it serviced every year. Do both and you keep the full parts and labour warranty: 7 years on the Logic System, 10 years on the Logic Max Combi, and 12 years on the Vogue Max System and Vogue Max Combi.
